The South Shore Swing Orchestra (SSSO) is an educational based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through education in the performing arts.
SSSO invites student musicians, living on the south side of Chicago and already participating in music programs in Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Park District, or area charter schools, an opportunity to experience learning, rehearsing, and performing music in a distinctive and timely ensemble experience.

South Shore Swing Orchestra has 3 15 week seasons per school year. Each 15 week/90 minute session, including practice copies of music being played: $!50.00

ABOUT THE THE CONDUCTOR/CLINICIAN:
Jeannette Hoyt, Conductor, South Shore Swing Orchestra, brings 14 years
of large ensemble teaching experience and over two decades of small ensemble and private music lesson expertise to the ABC Summer Music Workshop. Previously String Ensemble Director at Guerin Prep High School, River Grove, Illinois, Jeannette serves as an adjudicator for Illinois High School Music Association District Contest and Illinois Music Educators Association Contest. As guest clinician, Jeannette has worked with the Schaumburg Youth Symphony, Chicago's All-Star Orchestra, and has hosted "String Fest!", a one day festival for string students enrolled in Chicago's Catholic School System. In 2015, Jeannette served as Conductor, Intermediate Orchestra, Hyde Park Youth Symphony.
Jeannette finished her high school studies at Interlochen Arts Academy, her Bachelor of Music Performance studies at Roosevelt University, and is now enrolled at Chicago State University pursing a Master's Degree program in Public Health. When teaching, acting as guest clinician, or when judging events, Jeannette endeavors to create a learning environment where both classical music discipline and improvisatory music self-discovery are equally valued and encouraged.
